And Support Them
Thank you all for your entries. There are always positives, negatives & ‘if only’s’ when you judge & I believe that every breed specialist looks at certain aspects of the breed differently. Bitches are still a lot deeper in quality than the males. I found it quite concerning that bone, substance & character were lacking, especially in the males, & that a high proportion of the younger Rottweilers (5 out of 9 in one class) had mouth faults. Unfortunately, medium brown eyes are now the norm, especially in the lower classes, & short ribcages with tuck-ups in the bitches are reappearing. Coats are still a problem, too many are short & soft. We still have our excellent toplines & strong rearquarters & hocks. Some of our bitches have excellent heads. Necks need watching as they are erring on the long side which may look very stylish but is not correct.
VD (3,2) 1 Lee & Holmes’ Gardaw Kimi Rakkonen avec Leebee, 7 years male who was in excellent condition, strong, powerful, medium size with excellent type, correct body proportions, strong head with enough stop, medium to dark brown, correct shaped eye & ears well placed, large nose, strong, correct front with good pasterns. Feet a little slack. Excellent topline & strong quarters, movement was still very powerful for his age, excellent coat, correct adult male temperament.
MPD (3) 1 Wards’ Warrimead Philippe, 6 months, strong but raw puppy with excellent bone, already well defined foreface, deep stop, strong well filled muzzle, medium to dark brown eyes slightly round, medium well carried ears with happy expression, excellent mouth pigment for his age, front & back angulations good with strong hocks. Topline uneven. Excellent side gait with typical puppy movement. Coat very good although slightly sooty markings on pasterns. Very good tail carriage. BP; 2 Brunyee & Dunns’ Dragonfaith Midnight Storm, 7 months, taller puppy with correct body proportions, medium strength head with enough stop, medium brown well shaped eye with very well placed ears, strong, excellent front & good hindquarters. Topline uneven. Typical puppy movement, excellent markings but slightly short in coat; 3 Mounseys’ Dragonfaith Midnight Star.
PD (7) 1 Benstead’s Carsal Gringo, 10 months, very attractive puppy of excellent type due to his deep mahogany markings, medium size & bone, compact with good proportions, head & stop still developing, dark brown almond eye with excellent tight ears, slightly small & carried high giving an excellent expression, although clearer markings needed on muzzle. Excellent mouth pigment, strong well arched neck, straight front. Average angulations, development needed in the pasterns. Feet OK, excellent, strong flat coat, good tail carriage on the move, typical puppy movement for age; 2 Horton’s Rostock Ring Of Fire, 9 months, top size puppy in the developing stages, strong bone throughout, body proportions OK, head developing nicely, clean well developed stop with slightly open lipline, medium brown slightly round eyes, medium well placed ears, straight front although steep pasterns, good feet, average angles, average movement with long strides. Topline needs to strengthen. Excellent strong coat & good clean markings, tight tail carried high; 3 Clark’s Dortmund Ready To Rumble.
JD (9) 1 Lee’s Chapmeek Jamaican Rhythm avec Leebee, excellent youngster of correct balance & size who I believe will have an excellent career if shown to his full potential, super body proportions with strong round bones. Head still developing & just needs a tad more stop to be an excellent head but top skull & width of muzzle both correct. Keen, alert expression, excellent dark mouth pigment & strong neck, medium brown eye of correct shape, ears medium size, well placed & carried well, well placed shoulders, excellent ribcage & strong short level back which he retained well on the move, short loin, well developed rearquarters & good sound hocks, correct strong movement with ease & accuracy, excellent strong, flat coat, tail carried OK; 2 Watts & Gibbard’s Jezeve Gob Stopper, eyecatching young male, upper medium size dog of good type, typical head & expression but the dish in the stop goes a little too far into the skull. Correct ear size but need to be held closer to the cheeks. Correct shaped medium brown eyes & very good dark mouth pigment, in movement has excellent mental attitude but steps a little short in front. Very good rear drive. I would prefer more defined markings & of clearer colour. Unfortunately he had left his best jacket at home. Tail carried well; 3 Steel’s Upend Tonymaloney.
YD (6,1) 1 Basford’s Diesters Vice Squad for Ionides, medium sized male with strong bones & very well developed body, body proportions OK with a very short upper arm giving the impression of a slight shortness in front legs. Strong head, well developed foreface although round proportions, deep stop with high top skull, medium brown eye although round. Medium sized well carried ears, very well filled muzzle to end of nose, strong neck into strong topline. Underdeveloped ribcage giving too much tuck-up. Front & back angulation OK, flat short croup, movement strong & sound with very good show attitude. Tan marking could be richer & more defined. Coat needs to develop. Tail carried high; 2 Norval’s Imongard Hot N Bothered, very attentive, attractive, medium to large male with enough body development for his age, well developed head, correct top skull, expressive dark brown eyes of correct shape, ears small although well set but can give the impression there is more top skull than is required, good muzzle proportions. Lip line slightly untidy. Strong neck, topline good on stance but just nicks it on the move. Would prefer more angulations but he still managed to move well with balance in both front & rear angulation. I would just like to see him open his hocks’ angle more when moving. Short, flat croup, good tan colouring giving an attractive appearance, excellent strong flat coat. Tail carried high; 3 Trueman & Brownridge’s Jezeve Sherbet.
GD (7,1) 1 Rowarth’s Darkarmar Curved Air, outright winner of the class, medium sized & very good specimen, excellent bones with very good head proportions & expression, broad skull, deep stop, good muzzle, correct ears when he decided to show me them, good eye shape & colour. Little broken pigment in the mouth. Good neck but a little untidy in overline & breaks a little on the move. Ribcage needs to develop to finish off the underline, he appears a little deep in chest. In movement good reach & drive but needs to develop a little in front, would just like him to express himself more on the move. Excellent tail carriage probably one of the best here; 2 Marker’s Sundrifters Making Money, excellent type with superb colouring, slightly smaller framed but with a cleaner skull than 1 with very correct head proportions, excellent ears & medium brown eyes. Slightly broken mouth pigment. Very good neck & overline, medium front angulation & strong rear angles, when moving held very good topline but had a tendency to overreach from behind making him crab. When settled he recovered to move up 1 place. Excellent strong coat, carried tail slightly high; 3 Williams’ Jimeva Midnite Raver at Rylusha.
PGD (11) A class were I was presented with an exhibit with a water tail which unfortunately I had to penalise. 1 Fuller’s Wolfbass Akino at Kylamie, very eyecatching male, medium to large, compact with excellent male character, enough bone for his structure, good clean dry head of correct portions although a steeper stop & wider muzzle towards the tip would finish it completely. Correct placed & well carried ears, dark brown eyes having a good keen expression & has good pigment in his mouth, good strong neck into straight front. Shoulder angulation slightly steep. Strong pasterns into good feet, strong level topline on the stand & moving, very good rearquarters into strong hocks. When moving I would just like more extension & elasticity but holds an excellent outline. Very good colours although coat could be stronger. Tail carried well both standing & when moving, very close decision for the RCC. I just felt the LD had a more developed & classic head & expression; 2 Williams’ Bolia Sweet Fact Or Fiction, a very different type to 1 but still very correct male of medium size with excellent bone, not the classic sharp outline that seems to be the trend, just correct. Strong with well developed foreface although slightly rounder type. Head of excellent proportions, strong muzzle which is so lacking in the breed at present, excellent stop, good checks & dark brown expressive eyes, ears are of good size but slightly off line to skull giving the rounder look to the top skull. A better mouth pigment would complete the picture. Strong neck into good front angulation, strong front with excellent front leg bone, excellent ribcage & strong short loins, level underline, strong moving male who drives from behind, holds a nice shape but carries a slightly lower head carriage, excellent colours & excellent strong flat coat, carries an excellent tail; 3 Smith’s Warrimead Odin.
LD (13,1) 1 Leask’s Varenka Maximillion at Granjolea, at last I had found a male head I was looking for, excellent quality male from a kennel that keeps on producing winners every show season, medium sized compact male with enough bone who carries himself very well, excellent head proportions, expressive correct dark brown eyes, excellent forward placed ears giving that true Rottweiler male expression, correct deep stop & strong muzzle with excellent nose, strong neck into short, strong back well held on the move, short & tight loin, tight feet, front angulation, could be better & I hope this will develop with age but enough hind angulation, well developed thighs into strong hocks, coat strong & flat, excellent markings, male who moved enough but I would like to see more extension & elasticity through the body. He now just needs to mature on. RCC; 2 Fallon’s Angelfire King For A Day, correct size male of excellent type & substance with superb mahogany markings, most attractive strong male head with excellent dark brown, correct shaped eyes & carrying near perfect ears of correct size, strong wide muzzle & large nose, mouth pigment mottled, again another male with a strong neck into straight front legs & good pasterns, enough front angulation which he really uses well, slightly long in loin which makes him look as if he needs to carry a tad more weight but an excellent ribcage. Long strong rear quarters which he uses well on the move giving very good length of stride, excellent strong flat coarse coat. I would have just liked to see him in harder condition which I know is more difficult to keep in the larger male but lack of condition is also easier to see; 3 Gibson’s Dominatus James Dean Diester.
OD (4,1) 1 Lockyer’s Guardami Pal Joey, this male is in his prime, medium sized, compact with strong bone, superbly fit & in hard condition, has a head that so fits the Standard, well developed foreface with correct eye shape & colour, mouth pigment is absolutely perfect & gives him an excellent expression, very attractive head structure, steep stop, excellent wide muzzle with good earset well, slightly short in neck, good strong straight front & good feet. Front angulation needs more scope & a few creases can appear on his shoulders. Strong well sprung ribcage & short couplings, strong rearquarters & short strong hocks giving good drive from the rear. On the move he has an excellent head carriage but tends to lift his front feet a little high but this doesn’t restrict his forward animation. Not a flashy dog but very balanced, keeps an excellent top & underline. Coat strong & flat. Both standing & moving these two work as a team. CC & BOB; 2 Gibson’s Ch Dominatus Fire And Ice, 6 years, has been one of my favourite Rottweilers of the past four years for type & substance but for whatever reason he was never entered under me as a young dog. Unfortunately he had to give way to younger males. Absolutely superb attractive head type, well developed foreface, excellent bone & substance, correct steep stop & strong wide muzzle & good cheeks, medium brown eye, slightly round, with excellent carried ears, mouth pigment slightly mottled, strong neck into excellent straight front legs, average feet for age, strong compact ribcage but loin slightly long, very strong hocks which he uses well, wide strong rear quarters, very sound & strong movement which he does ‘in his own time’ but his foot placement is very good, strong coat & good colours. If he had just a bit more height on his front legs & a bit more character he would have been a hard act to beat in his prime. He was just looking his age & looked a bit worn out which was a shame; 3 Davis’ Ch Rottalma Tawney Emperor at Bearwithme.
VB (1) 1 Purchase’s Pretohawk Eternal Faith, at 7 years still looking in excellent condition, balanced bitch but lighter framed with average bone, good head, medium slightly round eyes, ears fairly small set slightly high, excellent mouth pigment, good movement & very sound, she has an excellent topline & underline, very good colours for her age & a strong flat coat, enjoying her day she looked in better nick than some younger bitches.
MPB (9) 1 Fuller’s Kylamie Perdita, 8 months, one of the most promising young bitches I have seen in recent months, again like her sire very stylish, eyecatching, nicely balanced & attentive. Still very immature but hopefully has loads to come. Medium bone. Head structure needs to develop. Medium/dark brown eyes with very good expression, excellent medium ears & set well, mouth pigment very good, strong, reachy neck into straight front legs, excellent topline for her age with a very good tail carriage, strong rearquarters & hocks which she uses well, very accurate movement holding her shape very well, showing excellent character, good coat & excellent colours, very well handled letting her show her happy character; 2 Steel’s Upend Valcadash, 6 months puppy who holds her shape so well in standing & movement, excellent balance for her very young age with enough bone, good head, correct stop & carried well set ears, medium brown eyes which just spoils the expression slightly, mouth pigment mottled, good straight front & strong pasterns, very good ribcage & strong loin for her age, puppy with strong quarters & hocks, good movement although in the developing puppy stages, good strong flat coat, excellent markings & colour, good tail carried well; 3 Ward’s Warrimead Pia.
PB (12) Another class with a water tail that I had to penalise. 1 Mills’ Carsal Gamba at Raltan, 10 months, very mature for her age, medium sized with lots of quality, excellent strong head developing with correct proportions, good stop, strong wide muzzle, correct well placed ears. Unfortunately another puppy with medium brown eyes. Excellent mouth pigment, strong clean neck, good front angulation into straight front legs, strong ribcage & short loin, very strong rearquarters & hocks, strong, flat coat, moved & handled very well. She just needs now to grow up on her legs to finish the picture; 2 Venneear’s Bryjul Yazoo, 11 months, pleasing well balanced puppy, medium sized, attractive head. Would like to see deeper stop. Very good ears of correct size which she holds very well, excellent mouth pigment & good expression, good clean neck into straight front. Pasterns are slightly underdeveloped, feet at this stage need to tighten. Good strong ribcage & loins. Movement still developing & topline needs to strengthen. Excellent strong flat coat, very good markings with a well carried tail; 3 Hucker’s Bevanray Lollypop.
JB (12,2) 1 Dunhill’s Fantasa Chili Pepper, strong upper medium sized, very well balanced with lots of quality, a bitch I feel comes into her own on the move, she has a strong head developing, good stop, enough muzzle, medium brown eyes, medium ears carried well, mouth pigment mottled, strong neck into correct super shoulders, straight front into good feet, good spring of ribs. Although a little short & deep tending to make her look underweight when in fact it is under development. Very strong rear quarters into strong hocks, this bitch excels on the move, moving through her angles, extending front & rear with correct head carriage. Topline needs to tighten she has a slight dip behind the withers. Excellent strong coat but a little rusty. Just needs her juvenile moult. Excellent tail carriage; 2 Cockerill’s Alkido’s Bellissa Mason, longer cast bitch with clean lines, strong attractive head, well developed, very expressive dark brown eye & well placed. Slightly small ears tending to bounce on the top of the skull when moving, reachy neck & slightly steep front angulation. Holds her shape & topline well on the move but I felt her handler was restraining her when moving which appeared to make her short step in front, strong hocks, excellent colour & carries a good tail; 3 Davies’ Newareliya Over The Rainbow.
YB (7) 1 Yates & Johnson’s Pendley Goldie, very attentive, stronger bitch, upper medium size of excellent type & quality & in excellent condition, attractive strong head, well developed foreface, medium colour, slightly round eyes. Medium ears which would benefit from lying closer to the head. Wide muzzle, mottled mouth pigment, strong neck into strong straight front, good pasterns & excellent compact feet, superb correct shape & length of ribcage & strong loins, strong rearquarters well muscled, very good top & underline, coat & colour correct, not a flashy bitch but has a strong, accurate side gait & carries an excellent tail; 2 Bicket & Cross’ Rottsdale Diva at Dersieger, yet another strong upper medium sized bitch, stronger all the way through than Goldie, well developed head, cheeks & stop, dark brown expressive eyes, slight pink patches in mouth. Just needs a tad more fill under the eyes, correct medium sized ears & placed well, strong neck & front, good feet, very strong ribcage, strong quarters & hocks especially standing, excellent strong coat & colours, in movement strong & accurate but I would just like to see her open up her hock angle when driving from behind, another excellent tail; 3 Bond’s Alldenria Dark Jewel at Kanesbrook.
GB (9,3) 1 Moran-Potter’s Sundrifters Maskerade, all quality bitch, medium sized, beautifully balanced with superb outline, excellent head, very expressive dark brown eyes, one of the few with correct shaped eyes, lovely medium sized perfectly placed ears held tight to her head, mottled mouth pigment, enough strength in muzzle, good front angles & straight front, clean withers, excellent feet, excellent topline when standing & moving, excellent underline, lovely sweeping rearquarters & good hocks, has a very good natural stance, I loved her on the move, so sound, accurate foot placement using her strong hocks & holding her beautiful shape so well, correct head carriage, correctly carried tail, one of the best moving bitches here & with maturity & condition she will be one to watch out for. RCC; 2 Dunhill & Rose’s Fantasa Red Chili, litter sister to 1 in Junior, very similar to her sister. Not quite the same strength but has the same qualities. Strong head & wide muzzle, medium brown eyes, medium well carried ears, mouth pigment mottled, strong front, clean withers. Not quite as deep in ribcage as her sister & has a better topline at present. Again strong quarters & hocks moving well through her angles. Obviously still immature & her coat needs to moult out, another excellent tail; 3 Diamond’s Estalea My Girl.
PGB (10,2) 1 Davidson’s Riviere De Diamant avec Firemoon, very alert, eye catching bitch of excellent type, beautiful head, well developed in stop & foreface, dark brown eyes & small but correctly placed ears. Slightly long in neck & front shoulder angulation could be better giving her a higher front gait & carrying her head a little high. Straight front & tight feet, good ribcage with strong loins, excellent outline & topline held very well on both the stand & when moving, strong rear quarters & hocks, coat & colours OK, loved her energy & ring presence, carries a high tight tail; 2 Freeze & Lockyer’s Guardami Vanilla Sky, sometimes you judge an animal for whatever reason you would love to take home & this was her, excellent ultra short bitch of correct type, strong bone. Not the biggest but has a superb head, excellent stop, very dark eye & mouth pigment to match with correct medium sized ears, strong neck, good front, excellent ribcage. Not flash & some would like a tighter topline. Powerful correct Rottweiler movement, on the stance she was OK, on her individual she messed up but when moving around together she got it together & then earned her second place. She may not be the flash showy type but this is the type of bitch any breeder should love to breed from; 3 Robert’s Pendley Claudia For Roloki.
LB (15,4) 1 Borne’s Dortmund Fame N Fortune at Trevearl, excellent medium sized, typy bitch of correct proportions, enough bone for her size, excellent head proportions, strong wide muzzle, dark brown eye of correct shape. Smaller sized ears set slightly back on skull & sometimes she loses her expression by not using them, mouth pigment mottled. Strong neck & straight front, very well balanced quarters with tight feet, excellent ribcage & strong loins, excellent strong coat & good markings, bitch with absolutely correct Rottweiler movement. Unfortunately she was dropping her head in the challenge making her rise over the croup slightly just spoiling her outline which was a shame; 2 Dunhill’s Fantasa Chili N Spice, the third of the trio of sisters, they are all of the same type have the same excellent reach & drive & body strength, an excellent litter to get three bitches of this quality in one go & all three having correct tails; 3 Pearson’s Kraisula Practical Magic.
OB (12,4) 1 Flowers’ Scanian Halle Berry, I judged this bitch two years ago placing her fourth as she didn’t want to play that day & I am so pleased her owner brought her under me again, she was alert & in excellent hard condition. Although a smaller sized, compact bitch she has spot on proportions, correct bone for her size & outstanding type without any exaggerations, beautiful Rottweiler bitch head, strong yet clean, dark brown expressive eyes, completely static ears on the smaller side, correct stop & muzzle complete with correct dark mouth pigment, good strong shapely neck, straight front, good front angulation & clean withers, tightest of feet, very good topline & underline with excellent ribcage, enough rear angulation, using every bit of her strong hocks, she held a lovely outline on the move, excellent strong coat & good markings, now matured into a very complete bitch. CC; 2 Lambert & Bartley’s Jezeve Paris, showgirl & in tip-top condition, very eyecatching, medium sized, nicely balanced bitch of very good type, although still maturing, enough bone, excellent head with correct proportions, good stop, medium brown eye, correct ears sitting close to her head, correct muzzle for head, slightly longer neck, front angulation OK. Just needs to drop in the chest. Straight front legs & good feet, good ribcage & strong short loins, very good rearquarters, well muscled & sound hocks giving her excellent accurate & balanced movement in side profile. Coat could be coarser but has excellent markings, tail carried well, 12 months will make all the difference, a very nice bitch; 3 Gibson & Robins’ Diester I’m Alice.
